ESG Policy Council Leader Role Overview
Leader of the ESG Policy Council

The Leader of the ESG Policy Council plays a vital role in guiding the Council’s efforts to address the challenges and opportunities related to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) issues within the business valuation profession.
Appointed by BVIUK’s Executive Management (EM) for a two-year term, the Leader is responsible for overseeing the Council’s activities and ensuring its contributions align with BVIUK’s strategic objectives and core values.

As a key figure within BVIUK’s governance structure, the Leader provides direction and facilitates collaboration among Council members to deliver meaningful insights and recommendations on the integration of ESG factors into professional valuation practices.
The Leader’s responsibilities include supervising the Council’s work, fostering discussions, and encouraging innovative thinking to support the development of guidelines and best practices for addressing ESG considerations effectively and ethically.

The Leader works closely with the Future Directions in Business Valuation Board (FDiBVB) to ensure the ESG Policy Council’s initiatives align with BVIUK’s broader vision. By maintaining open communication with Executive Management and Council members, the Leader ensures transparency and accountability in the Council’s efforts.

In addition to these responsibilities, the Leader prepares an annual report on the Council’s activities and achievements, which is published in BVIUK’s journal, The Valuer. This report provides insights into the Council’s contributions to advancing knowledge and best practices related to ESG in the valuation profession.

The role of Leader requires a strategic mindset, strong leadership skills, and a deep understanding of ESG’s evolving role within the business valuation landscape. The Leader’s work is integral to positioning BVIUK as a global thought leader on ESG integration, supporting members in addressing the complexities of this crucial area.
